Overview:
The Visual Study is an investigation into a chosen area of Design. It must include both analytical and practical responses. Specific Details: What is the difference between Propaganda and Advertising? The line between Propaganda and Advertising can appear to be a thin one. Both use the power of persuasion, both use similar visual techniques to convince the viewer to either buy a product or buy into their ideology. The aim of this Visual Study is to introduce you to some of the core concepts and techniques used by graphic designers in persuading their audience and answering the question, is there any difference between Propaganda and Advertising? What you discover will then be put into action in the development of a poster that combines both the look of Communist Era Propaganda with the function of Advertising.
